Henry Grey
Certified Authentic Pilates Education International Teacher
Henry grew up in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland, where his passion for dance began at an early age. At 13, he earned a scholarship to the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix, which led to full-time ballet training at The HARID Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida. After four years of training, he graduated in 2016 and joined the Bavarian State Ballet in Munich, where he quickly rose through the ranks to become a soloist in 2018. In 2020, he joined the Finnish National Ballet as a first soloist before retiring from the stage in 2023.
Upon returning to Aotearoa New Zealand, Henry embarked on a law degree while also pursuing his passion for Pilates. In 2024, he became certified to teach Pilates through Authentic Pilates Education International (APEI).
Over his career, Henry had the privilege of working with some of the world’s top choreographers, including John Neumeier, Christopher Wheeldon, George Balanchine, Yuri Grigorovich, and Wayne McGregor. He danced numerous leading and solo roles across a diverse repertoire, gaining invaluable experience in movement, strength, and flexibility.
Although Henry initially disliked Pilates as a child, his perspective changed in 2019 when he worked with Anna Villadolid in Munich. He quickly realized how beneficial Pilates was for his body and was determined to continue practicing even after moving to Helsinki, where he trained with Johanna Francis and Nina Saarinen, and spent summers with Katie Agnew at Authentic Pilates & Physiotherapy NZ. This led him to complete his teacher training with Katie and APEI, making him a passionate Pilates instructor.
Henry is excited to bring his deep understanding of movement to the studio and help others experience the benefits of Pilates—whether it’s for enhancing sports performance, improving overall health, or aiding in recovery. He is eager to work with clients of all levels and looks forward to helping you on your Pilates journey..
